By now, you may or may not have heard of the term "Evergreen Content". If you're sick of hearing about it... I hate to break it to you, but it's never going to NOT be important for your small business!
If you want your content to stand the test of time, you need to focus on creating evergreen content. Not just all of that trendy stuff that's hot today and gone tomorrow. Nope, we're talking about content that will be just as relevant in a year as it is today.
What is evergreen content?
Evergreen content is content that stays fresh and useful no matter how much time passes. It's the kind of content that people will always be searching for because it provides timeless value.
Think about it this way: if you write an article about the latest fashion trends, it might be popular for a month or two, but then it will quickly become irrelevant. On the other hand, if you write an article about how to dress for your body type, that's evergreen content. It will be just as relevant in five years as it is today.
This is also why it is imperative to research keywords and really know your audience. What would they be searching for until the end of time? That is the type of content you want to provide.
What are some examples of evergreen content?
Truthfully, this blog that you are reading RIGHT NOW is curated to be evergreen content!
Other pieces of branded content that are considered evergreen are: FAQ pages, tutorials, how-to guides, and testimonials!
Why is evergreen content important?
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Sadiee & Lola, evergreen content sounds boring. I want to make something with the latest viral TikTok dance!" Listen girly we get it, we're not saying you can't create content about fun, trendy stuff. Just make sure you're also creating content that will continue to provide value over time! It truly is a balance of the two.
STILL not convinced? We're not done yet...
Here are three reasons why you need to focus on creating evergreen content:
No.01 Evergreen content brings in consistent traffic.
When you create content that remains relevant, it will continue to attract visitors long after you hit publish! This means you'll have a consistent flow of traffic to your website or social media page, which in turn can lead to positive growth in follows, leads, sales, and revenue.
No.02 Evergreen content establishes you as an authority.
When people see that you're creating content that provides long-term value, they'll start to see you as an authority in your field. The idea is that you are able to speak to their wants, needs, interests, and pain points. The more you are seen as a solid and valuable resource in your space the more brand loyalty you will see! This can lead to more opportunities in itself such as; speaking engagements, media appearances, and partnerships.
No.03 Evergreen content saves you time.
When you create content that stays fresh over time, you won't have to constantly create new content to keep up with trends. This means you'll have more time to focus on other aspects of your business, such as product or service development, customer service, and any other activity that is part of your long-term growth strategy.
So there you have it, girly. If you want your content to be timeless and valuable for your ideal/target audience you need to place a big focus on creating evergreen content. Not only will it bring in consistent traffic, establish you as an authority, and save you time, but it will also make you look pretty damn good...and who doesn't want that for their small business?
Be inspired,
Lola & Sadiee
